School stimulus rorting 'not widespread' - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Mr Crean, who has taken over the Education portfolio from Prime Minister Julia Gillard, told Channel Nine that while there have been problems with the program, they have not been widespread.

"I am convinced from the initial discussions I've had with Brad Orgill [this] is not the case," he said.

"There are some instances of it, we have to address those and we are, we have to learn from it in terms of applications for the future, but they are not as widespread as people are making out."

"...not as widespread" - therefore, it does exist. A rushed policy leading to rushed programs leading to costly mistakes. Sounds oh-so-familiar. Though, like the Insulation debacle that saw Peter Garrett demoted to Morocco - people didn't lose their lives, and so its okay, we will just get on with dealing with it.

One has to wonder whether the release of the latest billions of dollars to the 'BER' in the last month will see more stringent processes in place so that money is not squandered further. What is the price of incompetence Julia Gillard? It seems its four or five electricians or home insulators lives!
